If you listen to the top end, the Blackhole has a clear echo after the last transient, like in a large church, unlike the Shimmer. Both sound great.

The Blackhole sounded amazing..until I heard the Shimmer. To my ears, the Valhalla seems to have more low end information in the reverb tail, and sounds smoother in the high end.

Obvious with the headphones, shimmer has more space and more stereo image. Space echoes in the middle. Valhalla echoes all around.

IMO, dispersion is stronger in Valhalla Shimmer, much more lively, you can literally understand and visualize repercussions. Panning is stronger. Also it becomes more musical in the end, than Blackhole. Not the same use, I would say. Shimmer is a tool for reverb fanatics. Blackhole would be a good overall reverb tool. And I do know I'm a reverb fanatic. X-D

is it just the notes from the piano or does the eventide reverb have more melodic substance whereas Shimmer seem to have a more diffused 'white-noisey' kind of tone? Or is it just the settings?

Blackhole sounds a bit smoother and more defined, Eventually it needs some more tuning with the highpass filter to come closer. Anyway, I like Blackhole more but the difference is not very big.

Shimmer sounds more spacious, with wider stereo stage, while Blackhole starts of more defined from the center and then disperses .. Shimmer sounds better to me in this case (it might be a bit louder though..)
