I was able to fix all driver issues when installing XP-Pro except for the sm-bus-controller. The drivers I found here were either not applicable for my chipset or not made for xp. Any suggestions? Free Download Driver Windows Xp
I had to replace a hard drive on a Fujitsu T4220 Tablet. We installed Win XP Pro SP 3 and the final driver that is missing is the SM BUS Controller. How do I get the driver for this, and is WIN XP PRO compatible with this device or should it have the tablet version of XP?

Secondly, I cannot get the pen device to work either, but there are not any error messages in the device manager on this one.

The SM Bus is the Intel System Management bus, so presumably what you want is the Chipset driver from the Fujitsu support page below (which has all of the T4220 drivers for XP Tablet including a driver for the Pen and Pen service:
- Go here: http://support.fujitsupc.com/CS/Portal/support.do
- Under 'Select Product' select 'Notebook PC' (yes, you have a tablet ... go figure)
- Select 'T Series'
- Select 'T4220' and click Go
- Scroll to the bottom of the page for 'Windows XP Tablet PC Compatible Drivers'
Sorry ... I re-read your post and see that you installed XP Pro rather than XP Tablet Edition. I don't know if the drivers for Tablet Edition from Fujitsu will work with XP Pro. And you may not be able to get the pen to work, even if you try to install the pen driver at the page above. See the following from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327160
Q3: What does Windows XP Tablet PC Edition include that Microsoft Windows XP Professional does not?
A3: Windows XP Tablet PC Edition includes everything that is available in Windows XP Professional, and the following additional features:
- Pen Input: Tablet PCs include digital pens that you use to control the computer and to write text in your own handwriting.
- Tablet PC Input Panel: Input Panel is an on-screen keyboard and writing pad. With Input Panel, you can type text without your standard keyboard.
- Microsoft Windows Journal: Windows Journal turns your Tablet PC into a writing pad.
- Microsoft Sticky Notes: You can use Sticky Notes to create and manage short handwritten or voice notes in the same manner that you would keep a stack of paper sticky notes.
- Handwriting Recognition and Conversion: You can write in your own handwriting, and then convert it to typed text.
- Speech Recognition: Tablet PCs have built-in speech-recognition capabilities.
- Document Annotation: You can annotate imported documents with a Tablet PC pen.
- Reading: Your Tablet PC uses Microsoft ClearType technology and a high-resolution display.
- Screen Rotation: You can quickly rotate your screen for landscape or portrait viewing.
- Gestures: You can use your Tablet PC pen to make 'gestures.' 'Gestures' are movements with the pen that complete common tasks.

If the chipset driver for Tablet Edition doesn't work (but I believe it will), perhaps the Intel chipset driver will: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-013541.htm
