Recommended to me by an American physician. I don't think this is of interest to an audience beyond that.
The question then is whether this is the best book for physicians. If you're a med student or resident and will read this because it has a stethoscope on the cover, and you refuse to read anything else on the topic, then this book will be very valuable. But if you can get past the white coat, I think there are better options.
The irony of this book is that the central premise is doctors are

Advice tailored to physicians, but has good basics/concepts for any young professional. Good starting place for people with no prior knowledge, and an easy read. Not too useful if you already have a moderate grasp personal finance, but has good book/article recommendations to go deeper on the subjects.
Intros the following subjects:
- Tax-deferred retirement accounts (401k, Traditional/Roth IRA, backdoor Roth, HSA)
- Low expense ratio index funds (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, index funds)
- Tax dedu

Extremely useful intro
This book is an excellent introduction to finances for any physician, especially one in residency, or medical student. I highly recommend it to anyone/everyone in our profession. It was recommended to me by a senior resident my first year of residency, and I have been passing it on ever since.
This is an amazing book that taught me a lot that I never knew about personal finance. Doctors spend hundreds of hours reading different texts, but often know nothing about how to handle money. This book has inspired me to do more reading on subjects like personal finance, taxes, investment, real estate, and retirement.
This is the first financial education book I’ve read. It’s specifically written for doctors though the principles could benefit anyone. It made me realize how little I know about finances. So many ways to invest! I would like to read more books on this topic to increase my knowledge in this area!
A jumping off point . I’ve read a few other financial books as a resident when some of it was not useful . I wish I read this earlier . It’s short and you really have to read other sources for a complete understanding though .
Attention all graduating/graduated medical students: do yourself a big favor and pick up this book and read it now! Chances are you have nothing better to do before residency starts, and it only takes a day or two to read if you have some free time. If you're a 3rd year or younger and have a few free hours, you should pick it up too. I was given this book as a gift as a 3rd year student and recently re-read it for the 2nd time ahead of residency. I have NO background in finance or business, but...more

As a veterinarian with an BBA (undergraduate degree in business adminstration) there was a lot in this book I tuned out on because I already knew the basic information. However they definitely also highlighted some important information that is specifically relevant to anyone with the initials Dr in front of their name - especially since they can make you a financial target for unsavory characters. Glad I read it for a book club helping people pay down their debt. Will likely get a hard copy to...more

This is an easily understood book that provides a small glimpse of the financial situation that high income earners are in and how to handle the burden of being a high income earner. Specifically this is tailored to physicians and I would hesitate to recommend this book to anyone outside of some sort of medical profession.
A small portion of the book is a summary of the very excellent 'The Millionaire Next Door' which leads me to recommend reading that first. This could be seen almost as an adden

The White Coat Investor is a reasonably useful book that delves into financial topics that are unique to physicians, such as savings rates, student loans, and the critical first year as an attending. There are certainly some tips that I will go back to reference.
That said, it had a few annoying downsides, such that I would not recommend it as a 'first read' for medical students looking for an introduction to personal finance for residency. The pacing is uneven: with a significant portion devoted

Great advice even if you aren't a doctor
This book was recommended to me by an ER doc I work with in San Diego, Ca. In am an ER nurse, and I wasn't really sure why I should read it or how reading the book would benefit me. It is common knowledge that registered nurses make a fraction of pay per year as physicians,. My ability to purchase extra rental property as an investment and purchase a home in San Diego as determined and recommended by the author is not tangible on a nurse's income.
However,

As a financial advisor that assists many physicians in managing their finances, I believe it is very prudent for all physicians to read this book. He points out the flaws in my industry as well as its benefits. More importantly, he offers the insight to physicians from a personal perspective that many may never be able to understand otherwise.

This book provides sound personal finance advice and guidance for any current or aspiring medical professional. As a pretty quick and easy read, it inherently lacks depth in some areas. This is remedied by summaries at the end of each chapter that reccomend articles and books that allow you to go more in depth on the topics discussed, with links in the ebook version that open the articles. Even if you're already well versed in personal finance, I would still recommend this book to brush up on yo...more
This book is not horribly detailed, but it is easy to read. It is broken down in to manageable chapters. Each chapter also offers you more reference material, both books and websites.
My husband will graduate from medical school this June. While I would consider myself well knowledges in debt removal/avoidance, this is a good time to begin looking forward: what do we do with this new income, and how do we keep it safe. This book is a great starting point for that.
A good succinct read. Initially I felt it was full of self promotion, but ultimately there was good financial advice on multiple levels. Like most wealth development books I left it feeling inspired to be responsible in my saving and future. The most powerful advice that I found was for MD's to leverage tax free retirement savings. This included the 'stealth IRA/HSA'. I hope to be able to follow up on some of his later investment advice.

A fabulous review on basics in finance that pertain to physicians—pre medical student, medical students, residents, fellows, new Attendings and out of training Attendings. All can gain insight and pearls from this books. I highly recommend Themis book to anyone who knows nothing of personal finance and needs a jump start into becoming financially healthy.
A great introduction to personal finance and investing
I am a soon to be medical student trying to get a handle on my future financial position, and set myself up for success. Dr Dahle provides the principles and basics needed to create a basic financial plan and eventually live the good life
Great advice for those of us with mounds of debt! As with other personal finance books I've read, after a few chapters I get exasperated with all the talk about money, money, money. But then I remember that's the point-- it's a money book. So if you need to read one, this book is super helpful and easy to follow.
Pretty awesome introduction to managing one's finances. It's geared specifically for doctors, but I think anyone could learn more than a thing or two from reading this book. Basically, you want to live below your means, put an emergency fund away, save a lot more for retirement than you think you'll need, and be really careful about who you hire to manage your finances, if you hire anyone.
Game changer for most Docs
This book changed my life and my family's future. This is my second time through it. It is a practical action plan to taking back the control we all give up some time during the long road of training we endure. Easy to read and understand. Thank God for the white coat investor.
Anyone thinking about going into the medical field should read this book. Anyone already in medical school should read this book. Anyone in residency should read this book. Any physician should read this book. This book is a great introduction to the specific financial issues doctors face in their careers.
Should be a mandatory reading for all training physicians and medical students
This book should be an requirement for medical training. I certainly wish I had trad this earlier. Better late than never!

Good book, short read
Good advice and nice, easy read. I like how the author included references for more detailed info. Read in a couple hours and am excited about using the information as an attending!
Worth every penny
As a mid career physician I wish this book had come out earlier but it’s never too late to start. Highly recommend it to any physician...or really anyone in healthcare
Required Reading for (New) Physicians
Good into to many financial topics that the average young physician has probably never even heard of. Likely a good starting point to further reading. I would recommend to others.

Yahoo

A succinct guideline to the basics with end-of-chapter hyperlinks for more info
Lots of good info for the novice investor. Ready-made reading lists to further delve into provided topics that are listed at the end of each chapter.
An internet search is free. This book is 10$. Choose wisely.
While I did learn a few things through this book, I should have realized that using a search engine and the power of the internet, I probably would have learnt a lot more and understood better.
Straightforward and readable presentation of basic personal finance information for the physician with very limited prior knowledge of the topic. I found this book very useful and will be referencing it again in the future.

Anyone who makes money should read this book. An excellent and trustworthy resource for improving one's financial position. Easy to understand and engaging, he also includes several external resources in case one wants to get additional knowledge.
