State Industries Water Heater Serial Number

Posted on  by

It includes the manufacture date, as well as information on the size and capacity. On older models, you can determine the age of your unit by decoding the water heater serial number. Some manufacturers, including Rheem, made it easy by incorporating the month and year built into the first 4 digits of the serial number. I had a gas water heater replace in Feb 2007. The new one was State Model #GS640YBRT. The pilot light kept going out and finally would not relight at all. I have a 8 year old gas water heater. It is a State Select Model PR675NRRS Serial F03109058. I found an old question posted on here involving the same gas water heater model number that I am also having the same problem with. I have a A.O. Smith Seal Shot Closed Combustion Power Vent hot water heater, Model #FPD40 223, Serial #MJ93.

How can I tell the age of a State Industries water heater from the serial number?

Thursday, September 13, 2018

The first two numbers of the serial number of a State Industries water heater are the year of manufacture. Newer State water heaters, like the one shown below from 2013 also list the “BUILD DATE” below the serial number so there’s no interpretation necessary; but, for older ones, you will have to depend on the serial number.
